FLL Department among Winners of US-France Initiative Grant

In an effort to increase the number of college exchange students between France and the U.S., the Embassy of France in the U.S. recently announced the winners of the Partnership for Innovation and Collaboration on Study Abroad, a grant competition organized in partnership with NAFSA: Association of International Educators and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU). Among the recipients is the project “French Language — The Key to Opening Many Doors,” an innovative partnership between the NC State Poole College of Management and the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures French program, coordinated by Diane Beckman.

This partnership will provide student-athletes and other underrepresented students the opportunity to study abroad as part of the Poole College of Management dual-degree program in Reims, France, and the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures spring break program in Paris, an initiative led by Diane Beckman and Dudley Marchi.

The grants are awarded under the auspices of the Transatlantic Friendship and Mobility Initiative, a joint initiative between the United States and France designed to strengthen the historic ties between the two countries by doubling the number of students from France and the U.S. studying abroad in each respective country by 2025.
