Why Studying Abroad Will Complete Your College Experience

The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures offers a myriad of Study Abroad programs to further enhance your college education. Studying abroad provides a once in a lifetime experience for students in our program, as they become immersed in another culture while improving their foreign language speaking proficiency while surrounded by those speaking in the native tongue.

There are currently faculty-led summer programs offered in French, German, Italian, and the Spanish language, and one semester-long program with other universities in the UNC School System. The world is your oyster when you decide to pursue one of these life changing programs, and you will find yourself exploring one of the following locations: Paris-France, Lille-France, Vienna-Austria, Perugia, Perú, Santander-Spain, Segovia-Spain, Sevilla-Spain, and Valencia-Spain.

It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made: to go study abroad”—Dylan Price, an NC State graduate, who’s studied abroad in both Montevideo, Uruguay, and Monterey, Mexico.

Study abroad students remain on track along with their on-campus peers, as all of their academic credits will transfer over seamlessly. Also, many of our programs offer scholarships opportunities to cover part of the cost of tuition and/or living expenses abroad.
