Foreign Languages & Literatures Majors Among Students Receiving Prestigious Study Abroad Scholarships

Two Foreign Languages and Literatures students were among seven Humanities and Social Sciences students who recently earned the prestigious Gilman Scholarship and Boren Awards to study abroad. 

The Bejamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad. The Boren Awards program provides funding opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to add an important international and language component to their educations with a focus on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study that are critical to U.S. national security.

  • Owen Webster, a senior majoring in Asian language and literature, economics and mechanical engineering, received a Boren scholarship to study Mandarin in China.
