Spanish Student-Initiated Honors

The University Honors Program is a model research-focused program. Its participants exemplify active and engaged learning as they participate in the creation of new knowledge. The program is designed to be a catalyst for academic innovation and the celebration of academic excellence.

General Information

Students who wish to pursue a Student-Initiated Honors Option must contact the instructor and make the request by the third day of the semester in which the course is taken. If the instructor agrees, the contract must be completed and submitted to the University Honors Program Office by the tenth day of the semester. Links to the contract and guidelines for completion can be found at the University Honors Program’s website.

At the end of the semester in which the Student-Initiated Honors Option is pursued, the faculty member assesses the student’s work and submits to the University Honors Program a Grade Report Form indicating whether the student has completed the Contract work with a grade of “B-“ or better. If so, the student will receive an “H” for the course on the student’s Official Transcript.
