The NC State creative writing program is accepting entries to its annual statewide writing contest. Open to all North Carolina residents, the contest is one of the largest free literary competitions in the Southeast and drew more than 600 entrants last year.

Five writers from NC State’s MFA in Creative Writing Program are receiving recognition for their work in science fiction and fantasy. Editors of the Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy series selected stories from one MFA student, three alumni and one faculty member to its latest list of notable stories. Among the winners, A Contracorriente Press' Copyeditor Julie Steinbacher.

Hear your favorite authors from across the university and across the country read from their work. Discuss genres ranging from poetry to cooking, fiction and science fiction.
