WLC Professor Receives Emerging Scholar Award

Dr. Mónica E. Lugo-Vélez, Assistant Professor of Spanish in the Department of World Languages & Cultures, recently won one of the Emerging Scholars Awards at the Fourteenth International Conference on Food Studies, held at the Politécnico de Portalegre in Portalegre, Portugal. As an Emerging Scholar awardee, she plays a crucial role in the conference by chairing parallel sessions, providing technical assistance, facilitating networking sessions, and presenting her research paper. Awardees are recognized at the Opening Session, receive an award at the Closing Session, and are granted membership and registration for next year’s conference.
