Foreign Languages and Literatures Students Among Winners at NC State Graduate Student Research Symposium

Foreign Languages and Literatures graduate students were among winners during the 2018 Graduate Student Research Symposium. Our grad students Sarah Chetty, Stephanie Oliver, and Lucía Planchón did a fantastic job representing the FL&L Graduate Program and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Symposium. Their research shows the breadth and depth of student research conducted in FL&L and the Hispanic Linguistics Program at NC State.

Sarah Chetty won the 1st place in the Humanities category with her poster on “To /b/ or not to /b/: On the Production of the Graphemes -bv- in Heritage Spanish,” and Lucía Planchón won second place with her poster on “Del ʒeísmo a ʃeísmo en hablantes Uruguayos.” Stephanie Oliver presented a poster on “Spanish Subject Pronoun Expression in Raleigh-Durham.” You can learn more about student and faculty research and outreach on Twitter at @HispLingNCSU.

Held each March, the event is sponsored by the Graduate School and the Graduate Student Association and is open to the public. Students are nominated by Directors of Graduate Programs. Posters are judged by faculty, and students receive recognition for top posters.
