Community Involvement
Our students are out in the field, using and building language and communication skills. We have clubs and organizations for several languages and interests that match students with social and volunteer opportunities around Raleigh.
Our department also coordinates Spanish professional certificates available to anyone in the community — not just NC State students.

Editorial A Contracorriente
Our department is home to a non-profit press that publishes refereed books on Latin American studies.
Our faculty are leading experts in nearly every area of foreign languages and literatures studies today, and they are authors of several of the best textbooks in foreign language education as well as authors of important articles and research in the fields of language change and world literature criticism.
Our publications include A Contracorriente, a journal on Social History and Literature in Latin America, and Dialogues: An Interdisciplinary Journal for English Language Teaching and Research.
